So, about 2 months ago I signed an order for a new class C. First RV ever. Always wanted one.
I've spent the last couple of month's working with the manufacturer to get the RV just the way I want. Been waiting as patiently as I could but really psyched. Made arrangements to pick it up next week, hotel, rental car one way to the plant, boarded dogs (for this trip anyway). Worked every little detail out.
So today I contacted the manufacturer for some final pics and he sends me one. There was one last thing he was to do, install something I had purchased specifically for this RV. Well one look at the picture and I can see it isn't installed properly. Like it was just an afterthought. And the salesman tries to tell me why they installed it wrong, trying to make me think it's ok.
Well it wasn't ok. And it's going to cost the dealer $600 to make it right. They were all apologetic and said they'd do whatever it took to make it right. Somewhere in there, everything lost it's shine. It was no longer a big deal to me. All in all it was a small thing, but in the back of my mind I couldn't help but think, "what else did they do that I can't see?"
Sorry for not being more specific, but I'm not ready to trash the manufacturer yet.
Has anyone else felt a letdown just before picking up a new RV?

I ordered a park trailer from a wonderful dealer. There were a few things I wanted that the manufacturer said couldn't be done. There were a few things the manufacturer didn't call my dealer about and my dealer didn't learn about until he picked it up. Everything was pretty small in the scheme of things, but each one was a disappointment. Now, 5 years later we STILL love our camper and don't lament the stuff that we were not able to have. I hope you choose to enjoy your new camper!

Sorry to hear about the problems. I've learned the hard way over the years that I should have paid more attention to a friend of mine that's an attorney. His quote, not mine!!! "If it aint in writing it doesn't exist!"
Every last detail is put in writing and also listed is the "Penalties" for non completion of the contract. If the person on the other side of the table doesn't want to sign then you just move on down the Yellow Brick Road!
Just like home improvement contracts, DO NOT DO ADD ONS, after the fact!!!! That's were they kill you.
Hope to see you on the road!!!

You purchased a brand new from the factory direct Nexus RV, a Company in Indiana, a beautiful Phantom 31P. They have No dealer network... so the factory itself did the "boo=boo"!
I have no doubt that the guys (Owners Claude and David) at Nexus will do the right thing..and get it right. If you have any doubts or reservations..call them!
They're pretty much like the company that builds Class C's here in SoCal that I like...Lazy Daze RV. One at a time, crafted with pride. Very rare in todays world!
Now repeat after me..."I bought a terrific Motorhome because the Nexus Company impressed me, the quality and craftsmanship is great, and I am going to enjoy it for many years!" And go enjoy it.

If they fix it right will you drop the 'Grumpy' from your name and just go by Gator? Or maybe HappyGator?
I hope everything work out for you, I'm sure you will love your new rig.

Hi,
I'd give my eye teeth to be able to afford a brand new C equipped to my specifications. You are one lucky devil! (and pretty well off, too!)
I'll never be able to afford a brand new RV and feel both lucky and privileged to have the 2nd hand unit I (and the bank) own.
