I live in Minot and from what Ive seen I dont think they allow it anymore. There used to be a lot of them there but not anymore-maybe one or two that could be in shopping is all Ive seen the last few trips up there. Last year they had grills set up outside and carpet matts as if they planned on living there!! Best to call and see as they may let a few stay one night. And yes everything as far as camprounds go are full.

That area of North Dakota has a huge housing shortage and as a result all campgrounds are full.

You would be better off to change your schedule and either go farther or stop short to avoid overnighting in that area.

Just a point. There is a huge difference between 'staying' at a Walmart & 'stopping' at one for a simple overnight. Walmart is not a campground, though there are many who abuse the courtesy of an overnight stop.

Minot is kind of crazy right now w/ the oil business boom in that area. Have heard nightmares from residents and folks having visited recently and would caution you to be on your toes. Imagine an old time gold rush town and the problems associated with such a scenario.

Good luck and be safe!

Most of the small towns in ND have RV parks. Hazelton, ND has 10 RV spots or so... electric provided. the town is 4 blocks long.

Linton ND has Seaman park outside of town on hwy 13. I grew up there and go back every once in awhile, so I know.

So go that route... look for the small towns and see which ones have city parks with RV parking.

Thanks Kathy
I'll have a look at that route, I haven't been able to locate any RV parks between the border and Minot on the route that we had chosen.
Michael
Just found a site called www.campscout.com/and found a nice "city" park that looks like it would fit our needs would also shorten our day. Thanks for the tip.

I live approximately 20 miles from Minot. What everyone is saying regarding full campgrounds is very true. The KOA and Roughrider Campgrounds were both flooded last June. The KOA has not re-opened yet and I wonder if it ever will; Roughrider is partially open. Swenson's RV Park was not affected by the flood but it is home to a lot of oil field workers and other company workers who are here helping Minot re-build. I do not know if they have any availability. Regarding Walmart - I just drove by there around 9:00 tonight and spotted about a dozen RV's so I assume they are permitting some overnighters. The grills and mats of long term squatters that were here last summer seem to have disappeared over the winter and I have not so far seen them return this year.

I would definately pick a different meeting spot based up ND RV parking issues. How about Fargo or Detroit Lakes, MN?? Why get into the oil boom hassles when on a trip of a lifetime.
