My wife and I set out with the 2 little dogs and a cockatiel in a motor home and toad from California yesterday for what we think will be a 10,000 mile round trip. Our furthest point out will be Newfoundland and we anticipate visiting about 20 states and most of Canada. By the time it is all done we can say that that one time or another in our lives we had been to all 50 states, 10 Canadian provinces and one Canadian territory. We have only RV'd in 40 of the states and 2 of the provinces but we're going to fix that.

Our California license plate is "RV ALL 50".

We departed Clovis, Ca on April 27 and overnighted in Reno, about a 300-mile drive. The northern Sierra is snow-capped today and absolutely beautiful. This day we anticipate an uneventful day as we continue eastward across Nevada and will overnight some place near the NV/Utah border, possibly 325 miles or so.

We have so much to see and experience, especially after we cross the Mississippi. If rv.net/forum readers are interested, I will use this forum as a blog of sorts and you can check in and see what we are doing over the next 10-12 weeks.

Bye for now.

Have a Fantastic Trip, I did a 33 state, 3 province, 10,000 mile trip back in 1990. I have very happy memories from that trip to this day. I just can't believe it has been almost 22 years.

You will have a blast I am sure. We did a fast 8,000 trip last year and the kids are still talking about it.

Sounds like a great trip. However, based on personal experience DO NOT TAKE your Cockatiel into Canada and expect to be able to get it back into the US trouble free. US Customs are VERY strict about bringing birds into the US, regardless of the origin without being vet checked for Bird Flu. Several years ago we were sent back into Canada and routed to a border crossing that had a vet on staff so our Cockatiel could be checked. A giant waste of time, and money.

Enjoy the ride. We are also setting off on what should also be about 10,000 trailer miles covering something like 25 states.
