It's a good climb once you enter the park. Up to about 8000 ft. What size is you rig? I know there is a max length but cannot remember it.

Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

We left Yellowstone via the east entrance to Cody back in 2007. The had just finished repaving the road surface and hadn't yet painted the lines on the road in the pic below. A very enjoyable drive all the way to Cody.

You should be ok, but the pull is steep. Just take it easy and don't worry about any cars, etc. behind you, they can enjoy the view as well. Once you reach the summit, pull over and look at all the world you can see from there, it's amazing, as long as it's clear. We live in a great part of the US and you need to see it, we don't want to keep it to ourselves.

We drove that route from Cody to Yellowstone Sept 2011.
The road was in very good shape. Normal mountain driving. Take it slow going up and coming down.

We were told the same thing back in 2007 by friends that had gone all the way around, to go into the West enterance. We used the East enterance, and it was just fine. We pulled our 27ft trailer that way, and I an so glad I didn't listen to our friends. There is nothing wrong with the East Ent.you will not be sorry going that way with your rig. Go for it the climb is nothing you won't find other places.
