Just relized that the fridge had a knob with three settings
electric gas & 12 volt. Now what I am thinking is gas is the propane. electric is when you plugged in / generator. And 12 volt is battery now is this correct? I only thought that damn fridge had 2 settings I guess I didn't turn the knob all the way
Thanks again

You are correct. What you have is a 3 way fridge. Many RV's only have a 2 way fridge without the 12v capability.
Use caution if you select the 12v mode. It uses a lot of power! It will quickly drain a battery if the truck is not running. Even if the truck is running, depending on your wiring from truck to camper it may not keep up with the fridge. IMO it's kind of a useless setting. Propane works great. I think most of the people who use the 12v setting are just afraid of running propane while traveling.

I'll add this since you said you were "green". The fridge needs a little 12v power to work even if it's set on 'gas'. So if you're batteries do go dead, and your fridge is on "gas"... and doesn't work...don't think it's broke.

How long would the propane setting last? Longer than the battery?

Propane well last much longer than your 12V when not running your engine. It takes very little propane to operate your fridge.

I leave my TC pluged in at home and the frig on elec. It's alway cold when I get ready to go. I switch over to gas just before loading and this has worked very well for me..good luck and enjoy your TC..

Most RV's only have a 2-way so kudos to you. Keep in mind that it may not work as well on some settings as others and that may be normal

Mine has an "AUTO" mode which automatically selects the most efficient source. I leave my camper plugged into 120 Vac all the time that it is parked in the driveway. I start my fridge the day before leaving on a trip, or if needed at home, and have never had a problem. When plugged in at home, the battery isolator switch isolates the camper from the PU battery and there is no need to have the LP turned on. Prior to heading out on a trip, I turn on the LP tanks. Everything works as advertised.

I also have the Auto mode. My fridge needs 12v power to work when its set on gas. When my camper is pluged into 120 in the driveway or at a campsite it doesn't need either the 12 volt or gas.
When your driving down the highway, you put it on 12 volt and gas. Your fridge should work fine. You are suppose to turn it off will filling your gas tanks.
