We have a 2001 Southwind with the V10 engine. Can anyone tell me where the fuel pump is located? I have read that it is in the fuel tank on earlier models with the 460 engine. Is it also in the gas tank on the V10?
We are heading out to the Grand Canyon soon. Our rig is 11 years old with 19,000 miles and I'm wondering if I should think about replacing the fuel pump as a preventive measure? Everything is working fine at the moment.

The fuel pump is in the gas tank I have 103,000 miles on mine and still using the original fuel pump. I Did replace the fuel line to the generator as it dried out and got cracks in it. Don't let the tank go below 1/4 as the gas around the fuel pump keeps it running cool.

It is definitely in the fuel tank, mine died and had to be replaced--the fuel pump/sending unit and pickup for the genset costs about $700 + labor, I would drive it till it dies!

I have two fuel pumps. One is in the tank and a smaller one under neath by the driver's side. My 460 would die on me and the problem was the fuel tank pump. Had to have it replaced mechanics don't like this job. Now I have intake valves going and now it wants to start but won't kick over.. it's always something
Good luck.
