I'm almost 66 years old now and have used the 'Old People' pass often. I'm not rich, but I think getting into Nat'l Pks FREE is too much to ask. I wouldn't mind if they just let me in for Half price. The parks need the money.

If a 'Little' is good, 'Alot' ain't better.
We generally buy a coffee mug and a bumper sticker or decal that I can put on the bumper of the camper. At least for our vacation visits to non-local parks. Helps support the park and gives us the reminder along with sometimes starts conversations at campsites.

Hope your travels are safe and the friendships made camping are lasting.
I got the "Golden Age Passport" (Lifetime Pass) quite a few years ago. There was a one time fee of $5 Dollars. Probably the best $5 Dollars I have ever spent in my lifetime.
My Pass for all of California "State Parks" was free, and good for your Lifetime also.
Between the two Pass's, it sure can save you a lot of money over the years, and we have.

All National Parks and most federal recreation areas have a mechanism by which you can donate on-site. Next visit, drop that half in the box.
At 66 I think you have earned the right to the nation parks for free.
I figure as many crooked politicians that are in office stealing money, taking bribes, in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, then telling me I don't deserve my social security or medicare or a free national park membership. Shame on them. I'm in my 70s and I paid enough in honest taxes at a high enough rate that I figure they can let me into a national park for free a couple of times a year. All I do is spend money when I am in the park that the national park service gets a kick back in funds. Just my humble opinion.
