How did you calibrate your ScanGauge?

2004 Monaco La Palma 36DBD
Workhorse W22 8.1 Gas Allison 1000, 7.1 mpg

2000 LEXUS RX300 FWD 22MPG 4020 LBS
US Gear Brakes

Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

Pulled TOAD 200 Miles
A few 6% Grades (Both Ways)
Some Winds

Pulled Grades in 6/3 at 3200RPM 45MPH
Averaged 9.0 Miles Per Gallon on trip per ScanGuage.

Didn't even know the car was back there.

Happy, Happy, Happy!

A quick newbie question....what does 6/3 represent? I assume something to do with the transmission?
Thanks!

I have had one hill I could not cross pulling the towed.
I managed to make it up the hill after I unhooked the towed.

This hill... Well, I hope to go down that road again some day.. IN A JEEP!

That has been my biggest fear of traveling out west. Not being able to get up a steep incline and more importantly what to do when you find out half way up?

How DO you handle a situation like that? What did you do, Get half way up and pull over and unhook the toad or stop right on the road and do it?

I got rid of my 4,000 lb pickup (which would have required a drive shaft disconnect) in favor of an 1,800 lb smart car.

smart cars make awesome toads - especially if there's only 2 of you.

I really miss my truck. I want it back .....but it'll never happen.

We traded our Jeep grand Cherokee for a smart car toad a few years back. For the most part it is a great toad. We have been all over the back roads of bryce and sedona as well as many of the roads around Blythe and imperial dam area. We deflate the tires a bit when off road and we keep it real slow. Great little toad. We prefer to tow ours on a smart car trailer but most of the folks we meet with smart cars tend to tow them 4 down. Our trailer stores mostly under the motorhome so it is seldom a problem and it is nice to be able to back up. Different strokes.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but rather by the moments that take our breath away.

Common sense should indicate to pull off the road to unhook. Somebody, anybody explain WHY you would stop in the road to unhook!!!??

I've put roughly 18,000 miles on our Pace Arrow 36D, Workhorse 22 chassis, 8.1L, Allison.

I don't think it would get 9mpg going down hill, and no, I wouldn't trust the computer. How fast were you cruising? I run 65mph, and average 7.5, more like 7.0 towing a 3000lb HHR.

Hear, Hear!!Glad I'm not the only one who lives in the real world. 7 is what I get with my diesel and Allison 6sp. MPG via 'puter, hogwash. Big block Chevy?? 9?? I don't think so. Happy PO needs a calculator and some basic arithmetic skills.

This wasn't a scientific experiment. Just an observation.
