We will be traveling to Eminence, MO and camping for a few days but we would like to also camp for a few days at another location that is relatively convenient to our drive back to Illinois. We have already visited Johnson Shut In's, Meramec and Onondaga Cave State Parks and are interested in another location. We were thinking about the Silver Mines Campground but can't find any reviews about it. Has anyone stayed there or have any other suggestions for camping in this general area?

Sam A Baker State Park (Patterson MO) is a favorite of ours. 2 sections one for larger RV's or if you need satellite for TV, and one more shady area for smaller units. 2 Campgrounds. We prefer the one near the office. Pretty remote and poor cell service but they have a pay phone and wi-fi at the office. They have a store with a few things. We love it there. (been twice). There is a shallow river for wading, swimming, paved bike or walking path. Water/electric hookups with dump station.

Silver Mines is a Forest Service Recreation Area. The Riverside campground has electric. No Dump station. Great Scenery...

It has been 3 years since I was there.

I loved it back in the Popup Days, but need more amenities now.

Markham Spring is a nice quiet spot near Williamsville. Also Hawn State Park up more towards Ste Genevieve.
