Just go to the Canadian Government web site and follow the instructions. Very easy to do as long as you have all the papers in legal order and the unit is on the approved list as per their published list. The cost is $214.00 unless it has gone up in the last 10 months plus the GST on the purchase price, plus the tire tax and the $100.00 tax on the air conditioner (another one of those temporary taxes from the early 70's during the first oil crisis).

Sorry don;t know how to make a clicky, but if you copy and paste this in your browswer it should help give you some great info on importing.

riv.ca is the website for the authority responsible for the importation of motorvehicles and the only one that should be consulted.

You also need to "Export the Vehicle from the USA"!
In order to do this you must contact Them and advise Them of Your Intentions and allow 72 Hours Minimum for Them to prepare the documentation. You will need to Fax a copy of the Bill of Sale and Must present the Original Title at the Border Office.

That's correct but you really need to check the rules at the specific POE that you'll be exporting. While some accept faxes or email, many don't and they want the original title delivered in person or by courrier at least 72 hrs before the export (they many not need the bill of sale in advance). Also confirm the hours of operations. From my experience, most US POEs will only process exports Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30 while the Canadian side will do them 24/7.
