Thanks everyone for the input. As in most things it seems like the demand is there but it is a business so all the requisite requirements need to be accounted for.

We did run into a fellow this past year that had a Mobile RV Repair service. He worked in Arizona around Casa Grande during the winter and during the summer he worked in his "real" home in Grande Junction, Colorado.

He called it following the migrant RVers.

I assume he was living in an RV while he spent time in AZ.

I think that doing the Mobile RV thing is the cats meow. I had some experience with a feller, after seeing him fixing another at a State park, there was a line up of dudes, pestering him to come over to them, next. I asked him about costs and his way around that, was...if he could fix it with what he had at hand, customer paid right then and there, in cash. He also said that mostly it was electrical stuff, so his best tool was his multi-meter. If it required parts outside of his stash of usual goodies, the customer was handed the catalogue, they ordered and paid for it, arranged for UPS or FEDX, and told to call the tech when the parts arrived. That way..no left holding the bag when customer left or changed their minds. He told me it was a great gig, for him.

I'm an RV tech, and graduate from the Fl. tech school. I happen to know first hand the all Camping worlds will hire you seasonally and in the state of FL, Lasy Days in Seffner will hire you and put your RV up in their park. In the four years that I've been doing this I have never had a problem getting a job or the pay that I wanted.
By the way, they also hire my wife. Go for it.

I am sure I wouldn't hire a recent graduate from a tech school who was freelancing. Those independent guys usually have many years experience at dealerships or factory repair centers. As for working seasonally at dealerships, that sounds a lot like a job. 40 hours a week at their schedule. Would be fine if you want to go back to the same place every year, but to move about the country, I would think you would tire very easily of always being the low man on the totem pole and getting the worst tasks at the dealership as all the noobies do. Just as you would be getting comfortable with the company you will be quitting and moving to a new location. Just not for me.

I am planning on doing just that this coming Jan-Mar. While in FL this past winter, my brother toured the school I plan to go to and he thought it would be a good one. I am not that far from you, actually was by there a couple weeks ago going to camping world in Rogers. PM me if you want to chat about it.

Its the RVSA. The owner doesnt put a lot of money in it and many operations are antiquated, but you will get the basics and should be able to troubleshoot appliances when your done. I believe there is another school in Central FL I would check it out first.
