Hi All,

My husband and I have just started full-time RVing. Depending on how it goes it may be just for a year or long term. We are doing this for his job. He is a regional manager for a drilling rig supply company. We are from southwest PA and his company expanded his region to include Oklahoma City; Odessa and Pleasanton, TX, keep the 2 offices in PA and be based out of Houston. We will be stay in each city one week a month. By the end of the week we will have spent a month in our travel trailer. We will head back to PA end of the week to finish packing up our house and putting our things in storage in Houston. We are going to rent our house out for a year prior to selling it. (Hubby's idea, he is afraid to let go.)

We bought a 2002 Prowler 29LS in June 2011 for the purpose of recreational RVing. Little did we know we would be on this adventure. If we go at this long term, we plan on expanding to a 5th wheel. My dream one is the Dutchman Infinity with the living room area in the front. Saw it at Camping World and fell in love with it.

It is just my hubby, me, 2 dogs and a hamster.

As we continue on this new adventure, I will be reading your posts for info and picking your brains with questions as we encounter issues. Just reading previous posts have answered many questions.

Blessings to all,
Trudi and Dan

We, too, are embarking on a year on the road. We purchased a 2007 Freedom Jamboree C-Class in October 2011 and have taken a couple of month long trips. Just rented out our house for a year, starting June 1, so our decision is made. Very excited and making plans. Having a hard time with the towing a vehicle vs. renting as needed, so any advice will be appreciated.

Cheers to all of us newbie full-timers! Looking forward to exchanges of information and experiences.

Trudi and Dan///ebshaw1: Welcome to the forum! T&D; It all depends on your situation; as long as it don't hurt the finances, go fo the fiver; just make sure you have a tow vehicle that is rated more than the weight of the loaded fiver. eb: Don't know how much you will need the towed (toad) but it makes it easier to get places inexpensively compare to the C-class and fuel mileage.
Renting is an option; but if you are in remote locations may not be a car-rental place close by. Try it w/out as you can always purchase a toad later
if needed. Pieere

You are entering a lifestyle that can be very addictive but it is a great way to enjoy life! There are a couple of things that you may find to be helpful. First I suggest that you check out the Escapee's RV Club for support of the RV lifestyle. In addition, you might find it useful to read a book or two on the way of life. There are several good ones around, but I suggest you start with Full-Time RVing. I would also invite you to check out the website that I have in my signature, which tells the story of our 12 years of fulltime RV living.

The site is for the experience of nationwide rving. Just enjoy the outdoor camping and have a great time.

Hate living in the house which is like a box.
So I like Tent Camping.

Thank you all. We have been doing full-time, officially, now since June 16th. We did go with the 5er a couple of weeks ago and love the space we have. We rented out our house. We got an Escapees Mail Service address so they can receive our mail and forward to us. It has also helped us establish our Texas residency.

This is an awesome adventure!!!!

Seems your already hooked, got the fiver, got your address, and used the word awesome. Save yourself some time, go ahead and put the house on the market, and get rid of the stuff. Welcome to the club. Let us know when your favorite day becomes Sunday afternoon. It wont take you long to figure that one out.
