We have a 35' Jayco fifth wheel. Friends of ours have a beautiful, never-seen-salt 2000 F30 with 95K on it they only have used for summer use and towing their fiver. We have the same truck, one year older, 1999, F250 ext cab. They are selling theirs (went to a MH) and we are thinking seriously of buying theirs.

Here are the particulars - is it worth it to sell mine - what would be a good asking price?

Ours 1999 ford f250 (never seen salt), ext cab, Lariat, 7.3, 155K, short bedm really nice condition.

His: 2000 ford f350 (never seen salt), crew cab, 7.3, 95Km dually, long bed, XLT, really nice condition.

Should I spend the $$ to buy his and should I sell mine for the extra suspension and dually? both have been maintained well. Would there be a market for my 7.3 and what should I ask. Going by NADA really doesn't reflect the condition either truck is in.

Thanks.

I can't speak to the 7.3 other than every diesel mechanic that I have dealt with on my 6.0 and 6.4 have said you should have a 7.3. In terms of going to a dually, I have a F250 and a F450 dually and pulled my unit with both and there is no comparison to the stability and comfort when pulling with the dually. I guess it comes down to the price, but you are also gaining some miles. Good luck in your decision.

You can go by what trucks are selling for on ebay. Plenty of them are moved on there. Always a market for the 7.3. I'm surprised that you havent posted telling us that you did it already, unless they want too much for theirs.

Do it and don't look back. You will be amazed at the dually difference.

I say that is a no brainer. The extra stability will be surprising to you. You are giving up a few amenities on trim level but gainng capability and fewer miles. There is ALWAYS a market for a nicely kept 7.3 and the resale value to a private party is better than you would think.

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH TRUCK...

Sounds like a good choice for you to do...you will be amazed at the difference the first time you tow with the one-ton dually diesel

do you need more truck? I say it pretty much comes down to that and the price difference. you'll have to pay taxes on it and also with the dually you have 2 extra tires to buy. If you don't have a problem pulling yours then i would keep what you got.
Do you know the maintenance history of his truck?
