Has anyone replaced their King mattress with a Queen mattress? I RV alone in my fiver and although my RV came with a king mattress I really do not need it. I thought a queen mattress would be just fine for me and trim some weight and maybe give me some extra space around the mattress when making up the bed.
What do you folks think? Is this a good idea or not? I am contemplating upgrading my bed anyway and thought while at it I would down size the bed size.
I will be very interested in hearing your thoughts.

That makes good sense. How easy it will be depends on the support system for your existing mattress. Many RVs have their mattress sitting on a plywood shelf. Have you looked at your mattress support to see if you could simply cut down the mattress support size to queen without effecting the box the support shelf rests on?

Yes I have. It looks okay. The main problem will be getting that big king mattress OUT of the fiver and the almost as big queen mattress INTO the fiver. I definitely will need some help. LOL.....

I don't understand why most people put a king mattress in, to us, we would rather have the room to walk around the bed! We are shopping for a fiver ourselves, and if we don't factory order, and we can't find what we want with a queen, we will have to do the same thing you are contemplating! Good luck on your mods.

Just replaced our King size mattress with a RV Edition Sleep Number Queen size, and is it GREAT, like sleeping on AIR, because thats exactly what you are sleeping on, , Go to a Sleep Number showroom, most malls have them, get a demonstration and you will be sold, had to do a little base frame work,my king was placed on a Queen size base, with large piece of plywood, cut it to, and put a heavy covering on the plywood to stop splinters, just pull it tight and staple the vinyl on, set up your bed, super easy todo and ENJOY, Wolfgang.Oh by the the way the bed is only 28 lbs,for RVs.

I am in the process now. Bought a new queen mattress over the weekend. I will cut the board down to suit and also re-do the padded headboard. Not only will we have a lot more floor space, I'll also have room to make two small "night stands." Been wanting to do it for years.
