Just ordered one from this place. Really good price and they have a 10% discount if you add TAXBREAK as a code.
I had a Stromberg Carlson plastic one on my 07 Chevy which I liked the looks of, but you had to be careful with it because you couldn't put much weight on it. They no longer make the style like I had and I don't really like the looks or perceived quality of the one they make now, so I opted for the Handy tailgate.
It should be here on May 3rd and I can let you know what I think of it when it gets here if you like.
$600 sounds a little high to me. I'd think about $400 or $450 painted would be more like it.

Thanks, I would appreciate what you think of it when you get it. Not sure where they came up with the $600 cost except to make up for the step bar I made them take off because it didn't fit right. Thinking ordering one might be best option.

Looking forward to your report.

I also bought one off of CraigsList...a Stromberg-Carlson plastic one for 50.00. Use it almost all year and if needed I I slide my original tailgate back on.

I'm on my second Custom Flow Elite (old one not compatible with new truck). Paid 325.00 on Amazon shipping included.

I prefer the metal one cause in my case it stays on the truck year round and I'm not sure how the plastic would hold up in the winter. We leave it on because we have a way better view when backing up in parking lots.

I received the Handy tailgate today. I took a chance with the Handy brand based on the known quality of their bike lifts but hadn't seen a Handy tailgate in person before.
I am very impressed with the quality. It's good heavy steel, but not too heavy. It was boxed appropriately and was undamaged. The latching mechanism with stainless cables is very well laid out and works smoothly.
I haven't installed it yet, but overall, it is better than what I even expected. Especially for the price I paid.
I purchased it at Quality Bumpers and it was shipped FedEx the same day.

RedG, thanks for the update and pictures. Now I'll see how well the local folks will price match.
