Hey Folks,

Im a newbie here and wanted tosay HI. My wife and I just purchased a new Laredo 5er, its a 324RL. We should be picking it up this week sometime and we a super excited.

A little about me, I own and operate my own repair shop, I am a Volunteer Fire Chief, and havent had a vacation in a LONG time. We diecided to sell the boat and buy a camper so we could go anywhere and stay without having to find a place. Its true what they say about the boat, the best 2 days I had with it was when we bought it and when we sold it. I will miss it, we had a ton of fun with it, but its time to gravitate toward something a little more relaxing.

Needless to say I can wait to close the shop and go camping.

The dealer is going to install a REESE Goose Box in place of the current pin box. I have a Draw Tite Remove a Ball in the bed now from a GN I used to have. I didnt want the adapter due to the stress I read it puts on the pin box so they threw that in as well.

I will post pictures if I can figure out how when we pick it up.

I hope to build some great friendships along the way and maybe even see some familiar names from the FTE Site.

Thanks Again,

Sarge

Welcome from Florida Sarge. You do know that owning an RV is a lot like owning a boat. Always something that needs to be done to it. I like the excitement, have fun.

Yeah but the RV has a 7 year warranty. As far as tinkering with it thats ok, its relaxing, I like driving, and being out doors is awesome. The wife is already planning trips. We are going to try for a trip to Wildwood NJ in July sometime. I joined up on reserve america and was looking for some sites with full hook ups that could accomidate a 36' 5er. Does anyone know where there is a nice cap ground close to the beach/boardwalk? there site is a little hard for me to navigate.

Thanks for all the welcomes,

Sarge

You may grow to wish that rv's were built as good as boats, depending on what brand of boat you have. 7 year warranty? On what part? frame? I have found that an rv needs much more TLC than a boat, if you do not want your rv sitting for weeks at the dealer waiting repairs you will need to be a jack of all trades. I enjoy rv'ing, great to get away, but still not near as a fun as taking the boat out on the bay for a nice cruise. Just wish I was in one of those states where I could tow both the boat and camper behind my truck, a perfect world.

I bought the extended warranty to cover all components for 7 years. I hope that I dont have many troubles with it, I had a camper before, it was a pull behind not a 5er.

Reading some of the threads over here is a little depressing, but it is what it is I guess. On some of the boat forums all they did was complain too.

Looks like you have used your goose box for awhile now. How do you like it? Am getting one this week. Have been using a convert a ball but didn't like the rough ride. I am concerned though that the goose box doesn't have safety chains
