The starting battery in my /93 classC
was installed 08/06/99.
I leave the battery in all winter,
Last driven 1st week Oct last year.
I do not disconnect cables or use charger.
The other day, the unit cranked over instantly
as it has done for the past twelve seasons.
I have no idea why this battery,(Interstate)
has lasted so long.
Maybe it has a pink bunny inside!
Life is short,Death is long,
Take a vacation.

Not unusual to have it last long in your application.
- low heat --- biggest killer
- few cold starts (another killer as repeated cold starts drain battery).
- good luck.

I keep a battery tender trickle charger/maintainer hooked up to my chassis battery when it is in storage at home. Keeps the battery fully charged.

If you need to replace the chassis battery, consider buying a Optima battery. *They are AGM batteries and you never have to add water and they last a long time! My 2003 Wrangler I installed an optima and when I traded it for a 2009 Wrangler I was tempted to keep the optima! I am not sold on the optima's for house batteries but for you chassis battery hands down optima!! Yes they are a little more expensive too purchase than a regular lead acid battery but if you figure the cost over the life of the battery the optima's are much less expensive!

I second the choice for a Optima AGM battery starting battery. I accidently let mine discharge totally and sit frozen at below -20C for a month this past winter. Took it out put it on a trickle charger and it was good to go for some hard starts the rest of the winter. Obviously this is not recommended and I'm sure I shortened the life but impressive none the less, a non-AGM battery may have been toast. I run two Lifeline AGM deep cycle batteries in the coach and their performance is great too (just be sure to have a proper AGM type inverter/charger).

Consider adding a Trik-L-Start combiner and low charge on the chassis battery will be a thing of the past.
Otherwise for superior CCA consider the Sears Platinum.

From the information provided, the Trik-L-Start is a real problem solver! I've looked at the picture of the Trik-L-Start in the link provided. Where do you place the Trik-L-Start monitor panel so you can see the colored indicators? There doesn't appear to be enough wire to place at the battery and run to the house batteries. And if you place the monitor panel midway, where do you put it so you can visually inspect? THANKS!

Take a look at this From Winnebago
Look at the "P-Series" install. your electrical box I think is in the front compartment (exterior) on the passenger side behind a panel held in place by 2 thumb screws (at least that's where it is on my '06). This is where your relays are located.
It's a tight fit and once all buttoned up you won't be able to see the LED's to monitor which state the Trik-L-Start is in.

I don't have a MH but I think the instructions suggest you put it across the boost relay that temporarily connects the house and chassis battery to give a start boost. Otherwise if all batteries are in one compartment you would just connect across the positive terminals. I think you could also connect across the battery isolator if so equipped.
Once you have it connected and verified working I don't think you will need to spend any time monitoring it.

Bought a new Interstate battery on Tuesday...went to an Interstate All Battery store in Beaumont...when I asked the salesperson about the age of the batteries they sold he told me none of them were over a month old and he would show me how to tell the age...I'm pleased...now I'll address the drain problem with Trickl Charge (not spelled correctly)...THANKS to everyone who participated...about the only unfinished item is the TireMan valve stems..they're in...and I'm searching for the right shop to do the job...it's hard these days to find people who are as interested in doing the work as you are in having it done. We had that problem when we wanted a fence...I built the privacy fence and we had that problem when we wanted a paver patio...I built the patio. I will not put on the TireMan valve stems. Have a GREAT evening!
