Was going to post Saturday, but somehow it didn't feel appropriate right on top of t-trains thread.
At 4:30 today I am retired. 30 yrs. 3 mos. 17 days. Friday they gave me a cake. Saturday I went in worked 3 hours tied up the odds and ends, made my goodbyes and went home. Today I am off on leave.
Looking forward to a new adventure.

The worst part of doing nothing is never knowing when you are done!
But then, why should you care whether you are done or not!
Have a happy retirement!

A year from now you will shake your head wondering how you ever had time to work.

Enjoy your time.

& never forget that the best part of doing nothing is resting up afterwards!

No reason not to be proud of this because of t-train's situation. From his point of view you just freed up a job for somebody else to take. I took an early retirement last year myself. I did want to work another five years but one of the factors that went into my decision is that if I didn't retire at least one and probably two of my co-workers were probably going to get laid off. That gave me the excuse I needed to pull the plug and get out of there and it was the best decsion I ever made. Now I'm starting up my own business and it's load of fun because I'm my own boss and I can come and go as a please. Not to mention that thanks to the retirement I really don't even have to make money in my business. Don't get me wrong, I want to make money, but it sure does take the worry and stress out of when I can pay all the bills without making a penny at it.
