Had a Guy tell me that I needed an Cold Air Intake Box for my Duramax to help with fuel mileage and pulling. I had never heard of this, so now I am asking your opinion. Thanks in advance.

What model and year?

Some LLY's had issues with hot air/themal dynamics that need addressed but later model units it is a waste of money unless tuning/500HP or more in general is your goal

JMO, most of those types of mods are not worth the cost the vast majority of the time.

Check here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117009 for more information. Its been proven the Durmax stock airfilter is more than adequate for up to 500 hp.

I have a buddy with a banks kit on his truck, exhaust, PDA tuner etc... he makes over 600 horse and he is still using the stock air intake.

he did install a K&N intake but it was quite noisy...

Some folks do report over heating with that year truck, but it doesn't sound like that is your problem. Believe me you would know if it was over heating (limp).
I've read some upgrade to the 06 LBZ intake and other use a different tune. Killerbee apparently has some good results with his product.
