Wife and I are taking delivery of our new CrossRoads Elevation toyhauler on Friday. This will be our first RV of any kind so we are a little nervous!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for as far as defects? What are some common things that don't work correctly when taking delivery and that I should make sure to check for.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Its under warranty but you want it to be dealt with then if you have a issue, just take your time and check everything one item at a time. Make a list of loose items that should be in the RV so you can make sure you have them. That being remotes, awning cranks, carpet for the garage if equiped, stools, chairs, out door spray head basicaly anything they can set down in the shop and forget. Check to make sure you have 2 full sets of keys and every lock works. you get the idea.

I would suggest going to the nearest state park, or even your drive way, and spend a couple of nights in your new trailer and use every system and appliance in the trailer. You don't want to set up in a campground 50 miles from town and find out the water pump doesn't work, or the shower door leaks. As suggested above, make sure you have all of the necessary cranks and levers to operate the awnings, remove the spare tire, and extend stabilizer jacks (if you have them).

Until you sign the loan documents it's not totally yours. So do your PDI before you sign off, then document items that need to be fixed/repaired and have them done before you take delivery. Wow feeling kind of dumb now. Already signed the loan documents, just haven't taken delivery yet. The delaer told me that once I sign everything they do an extensive walk thru and correct anyhting they find, then I come thru and they show me how everything works. I assumed that this is when I would detect anything that wasn't working correctly and have them fix it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions i'll take a look thru the 2 check lists and print them off. We are pulling it to a camp ground that is about 10 miles from the house (gotta love HOA's). Close enough that if we need something we can come get it, but far enough away that we will not leave for one or two minor things.

Thanks for all of the input!

It's always best to let someone else take your new trailer out for the first time. Someone that is not emotionally attached... Ah....I am not doing anything this weekend!

Very nice... I agree. Camp in your driveway for a few days. No cheating.....including Cooking....Bathroom and Showers. Fill up the holding tanks...Try out all the systems heat and AC....

2011 Work and Play 30WR. Added 2nd AC, four deep cycle batteries.

Few thoughts.

Until you sign the loan documents it's not totally yours. So do your PDI before you sign off, then document items that need to be fixed/repaired and have them done before you take delivery. It's just the nature of the industry that once it's yours then you need to get the dealer to do the work and the manufacturer to approve it.

The PDI is just that, a Pre-Delivery Inspection, take your time to learn the systems and inspect the unit in detail. Some dealer will try to rush you through in 30 minutes. That's not enough time. Take a video camera if you want so when they show you how to, say light the oven you can review it again later.

Many PDI forms are a good start, but remember on most Toy Haulers you have a fuel station. Might bring along 5 gallons of gas to pump out and make sure it's running.

You can find a very comprehensive Pre-Delivery Checklist here.

As mentioned before you hit the trail off on long trip, camp out close to home or in your driveway.

Congrats and enjoy!

when we picked up our TH in 06 the dealer asked us to camp in their lot the weekend before we signed the papers on Monday.Every one that worked there came by introduced themselves, told us what their position was and their "specialty'.Man I was overwelmed,in those 2 days we found and fixed,or scheduled to fix about 50 small and big items.Who would look at the spare and see manu. date ,tire was not same as on trailer and about 16 mos old.Tires where D and they put on E's.A guy came in with a caulk gun and caulked all the inside cabinets to the walls. They also did a bunch of odds and ends that ,and showed us how to work all appliances. Also told us what would break and work kind of 'cheesey' after a while.Gave good ideas on possible upgrades too. Things wrong..labeled dump valves wrong in the front pull box...gray was black and they were suprised!! Also gas station leaked and fill hose was about 4ft long..Replaced both. In the course of the next 2 years they sent the TH back to Manu twice to replace delaminated outside filon, last fix was all fiberglass, new tires, repack tire bearings and new brakes...and yes they survived the slow economy , wonder why?..
