Most of the suggestions I have been thru already. Unit rides level, put air bags on truck so I could level it out when I purchased the fiver in 05. Weight on axle is within 140 lbs of the axle behind it. Will look into the 10 ply tire as is cheaper than a new fiver or a new axle.
All the brakes and magnets were replaced within the last year, 8,000 miles on them. All bushings are wet type and in good condition. All have been blowouts that just shredded the tire so cannot really check for anything on the tires. We put nearly 60,000 miles on before I had the first tire go. Second set were also Maxis 8 ply, but could not get them the last time I got tires so I went with the Carlisle, rear axle tires are still looking good and not wearing bad at all. I was told that Maxis are no longer made. ??

The rumor about Maxxis not being made anymore is an ongoing fallacy.
Yes, they are made and readily available but tire dealers try hard to sell what they have.
Carlisles are your problem. Of the 5 I got with my TT, 2 exploded and 3 suffered slipped belts - one while it was just laying under the canopy in the back of my truck.

15" ST tires are notorious for blowing out, weight capacity is marginal. Upgrade to 16" LT.

Just curious, how fast were you going when you had the blowouts? Probably not you but I sure see a lot of fivers (and Toy haulers), blowing by me at 70, 75 or more and ST tires are just not designed for those speeds. Just askin

My experience is that tire loading has little to do with the blow outs. All 5 of mine failed in one way or another and they are never overloaded or under inflated. Nor are they ever used at speeds over 60-65.
The problem is that they're junk.
A tire pressure monitoring system won't help in this situation because they simply explode without warning and not because they're low on pressure.
For that size the only decent tire out there is the Maxxis. Get a set of those and you can forget about the tires.

Bkick, sounds like you've got a handle on things and know your FW pretty well. As I said earlier, if you can, go to E-range tires, though if you have to change rims to do so, and you have the room, dump the 15" rims and go to 16" and put on a good set of LT's and have done with it. The Michelin Ribs, Bridgestone Duravis and BFG Commercial T/A all seem to have good reviews, among many others. A lot of guys are looking to some of the non-Chinese Asian tires like Yokohama and Hankook, again in LT's. Maxxis =does= still make the 225/75R15 in E-range, and I could have had them from Discount, though they would have had to be ordered in from their warehouse and would have cost > $200 more for the set.

I like to stay off interstates as much as possible so I was doing less than 55 today each time. Also I have never used anything but a chock on the tires. Going to go tomorrow and get a couple of Maxis as I found a place not far from here that has them, per the internet. Might get all four as am tired of changing tires and still have about 4,000 more miles to go before we get back home. Even though not having a problem with the Carlisle on the rear axle. Just starting out to go to a wedding in Northern New Jew Jersey.

If you have had 4 blow on the same axle, you might want to check it's alignment and weigh each axle separately. Gotta be something with the axle itself. Maybe when the rig is level the weight is abnormally high for the front one.

It doesnt take much weight to be outside of a D's range. What ever you get try and get radials. They run cooler.

If you have the room go with 225/75R16 BF Goodrich Commercial TA's, that is what I did, for the peace of mind it is worth it.

With all due respect I would have to say, how can one possibly know that it, "won't help". I would have to say having a few years working in a BF Goodrich store that over 95% of blowouts will indicate something abnormal before they actually blow. I don't care if the tire is made in China or Cleveland. The problem was until recently there was no way to know except by the feel of the car. Most TPMS systems will indicate one of those abnormalities.
As for the post about checking the wheel bearings to see if they might be frozen up or dragging.... huh?

Forgot one. I didnt see you say what the air pressure was before you left, so I am assuming you didnt check. Bad karma.

Always check, and always run the max psi on the sidewall.
