We took a short 100 mile trip today to get the MH serviced, and coming back were facing the sun. The outside temp was about 90 degrees. We had the dash air conditioning wide open and were burning up! The air coming from the dash vents is cold, but does not seem to be as cold as it should be. I plan to have it checked tommorrow to see if it is working properly. That huge windshield is great for the view, but is even better as a thermal heater! My question is, do you folks have this problem ? I have heard that some folks run their generators and air conditioners on the road and it seems that may be the only solution. I hate to think about the extra diesel it will take, but we enjoy traveling while sweating! Thanks for your advice!

we run the genny and coach AC quite a lot. it's worth whatever miniscule cost in $ and MPG. stop sweating and get cool.

Almost all the class A owners I know in this part of Texas run their gennies and rooftop A/Cs when on the road. Doing otherwise means overheating, then having to wait until the rig cools down when stopped.

I found that when we're in the hot states, the dash air is inadaquate....but a touch of the button and instant relief as the genny fires up. Usually only have to run the front AC unit while driving.

By putting a manual shutoff valve on a heater hose and removing the cap tube from the evaporator I rarely have to run my genny and roof AC. Those automatic shut of valves are know to leak hot water and cycling the AC compressor does keep the evaporator from freezing up but cuts down on the amount of cooling. Out West with the low humidity this is not a problem and even in the East it usually take 4-6 hours before mine freezes up and the air flow drops off. Turning the compressor off for 1/4 hour usually is all that's needed to make it through the rest of the day. If you do not want to pull the cap tube out, then remove the connector and put a spade fuse in it.
When it's going to be 100 out I do turn on the front AC so all I have to do is hit the generator start button to add the front AC.

I will use the genny/ac in hot conditions. Not only are we more comfortable while driving down the road, the coach is already cooled so we are comfy at the campground. It is easier to keep it cool than try to cool it down!!

X2 on running the Roof Air if it is really hot. Why sweat?
Alaska is next! Still trying to fit the pontoons to the RV so We can get to Hawaii!
