I think I over-retracted the UltraFab 3500 tongue jack and the post that moves (the inner tube) fell out onto the ground (we were hooked to the truck)!
I stuffed it back in and ran it up and down a couple of times and it seems to be back to normal.
But I'm not sure. Any experience? I've emailed the manufacturer but no response as yet.

I would expect it to hit a limit switch or clutch or something to that effect... The falling out doesn't seem normal - maybe something got sheared off ??? Maybe a call to Ultra Fab is in order...

UltraFab responded with a nice email and a copy of the installation and lubrication instructions which require disassembling the unit to where I can re-attach a "nut." Gonna be a greasy job but they assure me it's not that hard. Requires removing the jack, but that's only 3 easy bolts.
Here's the culprit. The set screw (not shown) that secures the bronze (brass?) nut to the inner (moving) tube was loose and when I retracted the jack too far the inner tube was pulled out and fell..
A greasy 15 minutes got me this far. I tightened the set screw tighter with some Red Locktite on the threads and reinstalled everything.
Of note the inner tube has to be removed to reset the bronze nut and that requires removing the jack from the trailer or putting the jack over a hole. Once the top cover is removed the "headed pin" is removed from the main gear and the inner tube drops out. Watch your feet! (Startled me!) See the parts Diagram.
