Hi All,
I do not have the room for 4 golf cart batteries so I was looking at the 2 biggest 12 volt batteries I could get. Then I noticed in another thread, that Sam's Club sold 12 volt Golf Cart Batteries. Doing some measuring,I can fit them in my RV. So what are your thoughts on these from Sam's
$184
Model: Group Size GC12V
Item #:401749
•20 amp hour rate:155
•BCI Group Size:GC12
•Minutes at 25 amps:292
•Minutes at 56 amps:110
•Minutes at 75 amps:77
•Volts:12
It weighs in at 90 pounds and is 13 X 7 X 11
Two of these could give me almost 600 minutes of reserve capacity. Or would I be better off with 3 group 27 Deep Cycles?

You've got to sleuth out the manufacturer, telephone them and ask about the thickness of the positive plate. Golf car batteries have much thicker plates than any car jar RV cyclable battery. This might be a viable option for folks with issues with storage space.

Thanks tons for the quick responses. Good thought on the cabling. As I designed my system, I was surprised how much the cabling/connectors were going to cost....

Hi cruz-in,
I'm in favor of them.

Two of these GC12V will give you 310 amps hours. Three 27 will give around 315 to 330. So pretty much the same there. So if these are made better with thicker plates they should be a good deal. Price will not that far off. Cabling will be cheaper.

These are Duracell branded batteries made by Deka. I certainly can call them tomorrow. Is there a minnimum number I should be looking for in positive plate thickness?

Just found out that the Trojan T1275s are $195 locally....for only $10 more than the Duracell, I would probably go with the Trojan...although it has a little less capacity.

Looks like these weigh more than the Trojan T1275's at the same Ah rating.
EDIT: Oops, the T1275's are 150Ah.

After installing the two parallel jumpers. Take ground from one battery and the hot lead from the other. That balances the loads and charging across the two batteries.

cruz-in,
The standard is .110" or thicker. Ask if they use envelope separators. Deka is a top notch manufacturer hampered by logistics (on one side of the USA).
