I installed part of this strip from Bulb America as an under awning light & cut short pieces of the remaining length to provide interior lighting for my overhead cabinets.
The awning strip is bright enough to read by. One advantage of this strip is it can be cut between every 3 LEDs so you can make it any length you want. They have less expensive versions that are not waterproof. Probably similar to the ones Don posted the link to...

Go to www.mouser.com
Big electronics supplier and they will take small orders. They have everything from resistors to CPU's, 12V and 120v LED lighting.
If you can't find it there you don't need it!

we have a local large lighting/eletrical suply place called wynn's electric who stocks led rope lights in big spools that can be used in virtually unlimited length. you simply cut to length and add the ends and it is the correct length. i am sure that there are other like places who could supply it this way. seems like it would be much better than hooking some together.

This might be overkill, but THESE are the LED lights we use on the side of the trucks. We use the PFP1 series as it's a floodlight just for setup and break down, but they often ise it for talent when they get too lazy to break out a sticklight.

What do these cost? They look good for a horse trailer Standby, I'll have to see if I can find the quotes, but they're not cheap. I argued with purchasing to buy 15 for 5 trucks over the incandescent and finally had to pull rank

I have a 40 ft string of ac powered rope lights. It draws 75w IIRC. No idea of the lumens per watt but it must be pretty low.
I just replaced three recessed kitchen lights in the stick house with 18w 75w-equivalent leds. I do believe one could do surgery on the kitchen counter if there was the need! Excellent light quality for fine work and a good concentration because of the reduced angle dispersion of leds.
I am curious why you want rope lights.
Wouldn't a combo of 60w-equivalent LED bulbs work better? The Philips L-Prize winner uses 10w and the cheaper 12.5w versions are available at HD.
We use four 2.5w led fixtures in our van. That allows us to use one or two at a time to minimize energy consumption.
And leds are efficiently dimmable. Is it useful to have plenty of light when you need it and a low energy consumption otherwise?

rope light could be attached to to the center of the ceiling or around the top edge of the walls and run from battery power,
no exposed 120vac wiring, no conduit, no flex etc..
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother
....
