You should be able to measure from the center of the spring eye on end of the spring and get that measurement. The factory or someone should be able to tell you what that maximun distance should be. If it is longer than recommended then re-arch or replacement is in order. Mine were 7,000 lb axles with Dexter springs and the length should not exceed 26".
