I think im going to buy a set for my dually ive had it one season. This fall will get them at campers world. Looking for ideas untill then ,what are some ideas for tire covers? I live in country so its not visible to anyone.
I have never understood the point of tire covers, meaning, most folks tell you that tires on an RV will last from 7 to 10 years, depending on whom you talk to. Other folks will tell you that tire covers keep the sun from ruining your tires. Sooooo, if the tire covers work, then covered tires should last longer than the normal 7 to 10 years, right? Yet, I have never found one single person, who uses their tire covers religiously, who has gotten 12, 13, 14 years of useful life from their tires in, say, Texas, or Arizona. Now, if you want to put them on for looks, and you think they actually look good, go for it.
Today is my personal best for most consecutive days alive.
This is a question that gets bandied about often on this forum. Personally, as a full timer, I don't use 'em. I spray Aerospace Formula 303 on the tires once a month or so, and my current tires are seven years old and have no checking/cracks. Yes, tire manufactures say to use them, what do you expect them to say? Don't use them? And incur the wrath of cover manufacturers? Why, out of all of the types of vehicles on the road today, do you only see tire covers on RVs? Because we owners will buy almost anything if we think it will protect our investment! If your MH sits for six months I guess they'd be OK, and they're very good at attracting spiders which keeps the ants down.....But for me, I'm facing life uncovered.

You can have my RV, when you pry my cold dead fingers from the Steering Wheel
I cut a piece of plywood to fit in the wheel well on the exposed side of my fiver. Cost = $0, and will last for ever. Straight Edge rests on the ground and is wedged up under the fender skirt.

What made me think about getting them was. Im getting my boat ready for a trip to santee cooper next month.Giving it the once over I see deep cracks in the sidewalls,so I took both tires in to get replaced. With tires being around $250 each im thinking it might be worth it. I guess always seeing campers in yards with them on,got me thinking about it.I will check walmart.
I don't use them since all 4 of my 5'er tires are protected from the sun when I have my slides out since they are under the slides. I full time so the slides are out all the time unless I'm moving.
