Thanks to a previous post able to get a reservation in North Pines 38' campsite. Now the tough question which way to go and yes I did use the search engine.
We live in Bakersfield and have always used 41, but stayed in Wawona. I looked at the Yosemite website and states height restriction 10' 2" in the Wawona tunnel into the Valley. I've seen Class A's through there is this restriction true?
Hwy 140 states length restriction of 45' between El Portal and Mariposa. Has anyone with a 5th wheel gone this route? How strict are they on the length?
What have you pulled thru there and did you have any trouble? Our combined length is 52'.
You didn't mention how tall your rig is, but the 10'2" height is the curb height into the valley. The lane height is considerably higher, probably closer to the 13'6" curb height leaving the valley. If I recall the sign over the tunnel into the valley reads 13'6". Large tour buses travel this route all the time, so you shouldn't have a problem. I'm 52' too (although not as tall) and travel this route quite often.
The hwy 140 45' length restriction is due to the slide that happened several years ago. They have temporary bridges in place and there are sharp turns to get across them.
You'll have no trouble with the tunnels, just run up against the centerline. Stick with 41 as it'll be the easiest route for you. See my profile, I go through Yosemite pulling double up 41 and over 120 to Lee Vining, no problems.
