I am going to have to run a 8 gauge wire positive and negative to my lance camper exclusive plug. I am going run off the battery to a battery disconnect then to a fuse then to the plug. I am planning to run under the truck cause i don't like messing with the trim in the truck, it makes me nervous.
I was curious how most of you do it. Do you run under the cab area of the truck or do you run under the plastic trim and drill a hole through the cab area by the bed?
Yes I can see where you are right they have a thirty and 40 amp fuse all ready in place on stud one and two. Makes sense to me. Then just run it under the cab.
Thanks for the input.
What I do now is put a 40 amp circut breaker at the + post on the battery then run 8 ga. Anchor Marine wiring to and along frame then up inbetween the bed walls then out the stake pocket openings inside the bed. I terminate the wire with a Anderson 50 amp Red power connector. Made for Winches. Cabelas has them.
The ground goes back to truck frame.
I then take Lances truck side wire harness and splice open the insulation about 1 1/2 ft from the plug exposeing the 8 ga blk and white wires. I install the Anderson connector there. On the other end of Lances wiring I install a 7 way plug for the lights on the Lance so I can insert it into the tow receptable. If you have a long bed you may have to add some lenght.
This way there is no drilling into bed. No spliceing into truck harness. You get a safe and strong 12 V connection from the battery. Easy to install/uninstall every camping trip. Easy to reach.
I've had the Lance on 4 trucks and got tired of drilling, etc. on the second one.

Yes go right off the power center 40 amp to the 8 gauge red
One of the first things I'd with my Lance815 was to get rid of the Lance plug and installed a Bargmanplug. The original plug was too light duty for my taste and install a Sure Power isolator.
