I thought about modifying the motorcycle trailer but then I'd still have to lift the boats to get them up above the bikes and my doc says no lifting more than 20 pounds - also the boats are 17 and 22 feet long (single and tandem) and I built them myself so they won't be getting replaced by inflatables or other such anytime soon - probably never. Might think about a winch setup to pull them up onto an elevated rack though - hmm another project -
The nice thing about the Yakima trailer is that I can pull it into my garage and lower the boats onto it and then back it down a boat ramp and launch or retrieve without lifting them - I have rollers on the rear load bar of the trailer and it takes very little to roll them on or off. In the garage I store the boats overhead using Harken Hoisters, very little effort needed to lift or lower them.
