First motor home.
I've owned three 5th wheels including a 2011 40' New Horizons so I thought this Ellipse would be an easy transition. (wrong)
I would like to hear from other Ellipse owners about tips on maintaining the systems and any gotchas that could cause unexpected problems. I would also like to hear about the good stuff.
So far after two days on the road we are enjoying the experience and learning new facts daily about operating the equipment.
It's similar to owning and maintaining airplane.

You will love your new motor home for unit specific advise I would recommned the Winnebago owners forum. The 800 number for Winnebago customer service should also be on speed dial 800 537 1885 and the cummins number 800-385-4357
Keep that bag of manuals handy they are great

Really curious about your experience. We are 5th wheel owners considering a move to a motorhome and the 42QD was at the top of our short list.
Why do you say the transition was not easy? Are you glad you did it?

Yes, this was a good decision. I was referring to the difference in setting up and before travel procedures... The Ellipse is easier by a long shot!
I highly recommend the 42QD...

Parents just went to the Ellipse from their 08 Discovery. They are older (almost 70) so I am heliping them with some of the electronics that they cant figure out. I drove it about 200 miles and I do like the ride, very similar to my Monaco. Only problem so far is getting the usual "new RV" items addressed. They bought from Camping World, and I personally would not let these people change the oil in my lawn mower.

We just traded up from a 05 34H Journey to a 06 40KD Horizon Itasca and we love the Winnebago/Itasca products. I think you will love them too! Last fall we went to Forest City and toured the Winnebago plant and really got to see how they are built and were very impressed. We were not only impressed with the facility but also the staff there were awesome. Another great forum is at iRV2.com and there is a forum just for Winnebago/Itasca owners. Congrats on your new Ellipse and Happy Motorhoming!

Watch who you are calling older people. That sounds young to me.

Update to this thread, since parents bought theirs it has spent more time in the shop than it has at home. Something is wrong on the electrical side. The two big slides constantly trip on fault when you try to move them. A big part of the problem is Camping World of Statesville, NC. Thats where they got it and these people are clueless beyond anything other than a pop up it seems.
