Our shower faucet is leaking at the hot water knob when turned on, running down the shower hose & burning our feet.
We have a 99 H/R Vacationer & no idea the brand name of the faucet in it, but it looks just like the replacement models they sell on e bay & in the RV replacement parts catalogs.
What I'm wondering, if any of you replaced or repaired your faucet, & if so, how close it is to being made just like a faucet in a house.
I've done most all types of house plumbing repairs before, so know how to fix a house faucet, like replacing stems & washers & seats.
Thanks, Neil
I don't know the name of the manufacturer of the faucet, but HR (Monaco) bought plumbing fixtures off the shelf, so they are "standard". You should be able to replace the washers and gaskets in the faucet. Or, you could replace the entire fixture. It isn't hard to do.
I've replaced all the fixtures in our HR with household type fixtures that were of much better quality although slightly heavier than the plastic original fixtures. It was easy.

If you have done the house ones then I would take this one apart, mine was just like the the home one and I replaced the seals and washers worked just like new.I just took all the parts with me to my hardware store matched them up.

Neil,
I have the same problem with my 04 Safari (Monaco built) coach.
I wonder if you need rear access to replace the shower fixture? If not, the job should be easy, but if so, mine would be almost impossible.

If you have 2 separate handles for hot and cold, then it's either 10 cents washer or $10 "cartridge" (metal part with washer shutting the flow and a stem on which the handle is sitting). Could be either one, but most likely it's a washer. RV faucets are made in the same way as home faucets. Home Depot has $2 pack of assorted washers. You will have to remove the cartridge to replace the washer. It's easier than you think, the only tool you need is a wrench. Just make sure you shut the water off before taking the handle off and un-screwing the cartridge.
Pry the decorative plate that says "hot" with a tip of knife and you'll find the screw holding the handle. Take the handle off, and then take the cartridge out. Cartridges come in different sizes, so you better take the old one to Home Depot if in doubt.
You MIGHT need a teflon tape to put on the thread ($1? don't remember), but not necessarily. If it doesn't leak around the cartridge after you're replaced the washer and/or cartridge, skip the tape.
If it's a kind of single-handle thing with diverter and hot/cold controls all in one, then it most likely can be screwed out of the wall and replaced. Can't say more without seeing.
Just replace the cartridge or washers . I just repaired my bath sink faucet with a cartridge from Ace hardware. When it is apart check for lime/calcium buildup in side and clean that with emery paper, or even limeaway . I did not the first time, it leaked when "ON" so I cleaned the******inside and that fixed it.
