Spring or fall Joshua Tree National park, lots of hiking/biking paths, not too hilly so good for all. Very hot in summer and very cold in winter. Spring and fall are very nice.

We ended up getting a spot at Santee Lakes. Looks like a great spot! Thanks!

In the cooler weather - Sam's Family Spa in Desert Hot Springs is fun for kids - nice pools and hot pools and lots of ducks and swans to watch and feed.

Do a Google search on Serrano campground in Big Bear area (Fawnskin)we have stayed here lots.

Really nice and clean with a loop of full hookups. There is a nice paved bike path that runs along the lake.
