Anybody drive their RV to go on a cruise? If you do where do you keep your rv while gone. DW and I looking to drive our RV to Florida, and go on a cruise, and I know the Miami port doesn't have a lot of parking, but it seems a bit excessive to pay a campground just to have it sit.
We have done that several times - usually cruising out of New Orleans and we take our RV to Gulf Shores, stay a few days, leave it in storage, go on cruise, come back and take RV out of storage, stay a few more days, then back home. It usually costs $1.50 per day to store it. Gulf Shores is about 2 1/2 hrs from NO.
This year, we just drove to Port Canaveral to embark on our cruise. We NEVER park in their lot. We always park at the Radisson, which is about 1 mile from port. They shuttle you back and forth - it costs $50 for the week, including taxes, etc. It's not covered parking, but it doesn't really matter to us. It is a definite money saving thing and it is good. I called them to ask about length of vehicle and they said they would park ANY vehicle for the same price, even an RV. (I assume they mean motorhome).
bukhrn, there's the Alaska Marine Highway:
Not exactly a cruise, but more like an extended ferry boat trip or campground on a ship. You can't stay in the RV while aboard though.
