Hard to argue with any of these comments. When I bought in 06, I couldn't afford the Ford and had been told to stay away from the 6.0L engine. The small fuel tank on the Chevy scared me off. I went with the Dodge. Love the truck, BUT I did have torgue converter problems, which Dodge covered even though I was just over the 36 month limit. I've got 40K miles on it now and would buy another Dodge, if I was in the market. Buy what feels right to you and your wallet.

I'm partial to Chevy, but I love the Cummins motor. It's a hard decision...

Either truck would be good. I've had both. Don't be to shocked at the prices for either as they are both sought after and priced higher than you might expect. Check the trucks GVWR/payload as this might help make the decision also.

It would be really hard to beat the Duramax LBZ/Allison combo.

When I was buying a used work truck I always bought the truck that was in the best condition. This seemed to work for me. Rving is different than a work truck of course because a wife can be a reason for her comforts are important also.

The Chevy is a nice package - but I go off road a fair amount of time - gathering firewood and such - and the Chevy is not the best off road big truck.

I wanted something I could work on if I needed too, so I bought the Dodge, reminds me of my old Dodge slant six I had in my first truck.

The Chevy problems with injectors ended with the introductions of the LLY engine in mid year '04. Trucks with this engine will have a 2 as the 8th digit of the VIN. The earlier engine, the LB7, which had injector problems, would have a 1 as the 8th VIN digit. Since 2004.5 Chevy diesels have been almost perfect. I have owned several and highly recommend them. GMC trucks are identical except for badges and grill style. They make them on the same assembly line.
Dodge makes a good truck but I'll take the Allison automatic over the Dodge automatic any day. And yes, I have owned both.
