Noticed a puddle under the left front corner of my truck bed the other day. Thought it was water, but it wasn't dried out when I got home. It was oil of some sort.
Crawled under the truck and nearest I could figure was the oil was coming from on top of the gas tank.
Definitely NOT gasoline, no smell.
Definitely not brake fluid, this was clear and my brake fluid is a little dirty.
Definitely not transmission fluid, wasn't red.
Definitely not engine oil, wasn't brown.
Could not figure out what it was or where it was coming fron... There are no oil lines running anywhere near the gas tank...
I searched and pondered for a week. Found a leaky bottle of injector cleaner in the rear of the bed, but not enough was missing to explain the mess, and it was at the REAR of the bed. This leak was from the FRONT.
Turns out that the injector cleaner ran down a channel UNDERNEATH the bed mat the entire length of the bed, then across to the passenger's side drain, back across underneath the bed to the driver's side, down the fender, and on the ground!
It's amazing how much mess a couple of ounces of injector cleaner will make...
