I don't often take the time to gripe but when it can save someone a problem I like to speak up.

I contacted the Camping World in Columbia S.C. and asked two questions. What exit to leave I-26 Eastbount and did they have enough room to accomodate two (traveling with friends) 37 ft Class A's both with toads. I was told to get off I-26 at exit 106B and there was plenty of room, no problems.

I missed the exit because there is no 106A or B Eastbound. We called and two employees weren't able to give me the corrrect exit number. But, we turned around and finally got to the store. An employee ran out and told us we couldn't park there was no room. He advised us to leave the two rigs on the I-26 service road. I wish I could have provided a picture. It was two lanes, no shoulder, and doubled lined. This road carrried a substancial amount of traffic. No way to leave a rig there.

Immediately east there is a MArine and RV supplier with a huge parking lot. I pointed to it and was told 'Don't park there you're not allowed in there.' I went anyway and parked in their yard. The owners were gracious and understanding. Told us to park and shop where we wished. However I purchased what I need from them rather than put up with misinformation and incompetence.

I hope I'm not placing this in the wrong forum but this place is definetely not a good place to stop with a rig.

a business is only good as it's employee's.. sounds like this CW needs to tighten up a few of them..

I don't think the OP said anything about camping there. He just asked about parking. And it would seem reasonable for a business to be able to provide accurate directions to their establishment.

From Camping World website:

Driving directions
I-26, Exit 106B, north on St. Andrews Rd., left on Frontage Rd. (Fernandina Rd.)
Approximately 1 mile on right.

Per Streets and Trips, There is only one exit 106 (no A or B) from the South / East bound direction.

Camping World needs to update the information to include information for each direction.

From the Google Earth sat picture, I don't see a lot of space available.

I don't blame the OP for being upset. I would be too. Jeesh, you go to the trouble of calling CW for directions, you expect to get correct information. I get very uncomfortable when I get "lost" and am towing - it is not always easy to get turned around. Then, not to have room to park - to shop and spend $$$$ in CW - after the OP was told "plenty of room". like the OP, I would take my $$$$ and spend it elsewhere, too.

Yes, Thanks for the reasonable replies. No, I didn't expct to camp. I don't camp in anyone's parking lot. I just needed to pick up a few items. Water hose, filter etc. I would expect an employee to give accurate directions and what the facilities were.

Thanks for support. As I said I usually don't post folks like 'Executive' is why.

Only if the people at the "business" aren't LOST themselves...IMHO, of course

WOW you would think CW would at least train the staff as to where they are located. I would not want to do business with a firm that claimed to be RV related that did not have a parking lot for RV shoppers.

Thanks for taking the effort and buying from the concerned RV business.

Kind of over look Executive because we could all develop similar mean spirits under certain conditions.

I deal with this camping world all the time and most of the people I deal with are top notch. They do have a space problem and getting in and out of their parking is a pain. The store was built initially as a service center (no sales). Since then they have added a sales force and of course a large supply of units which takes up all of their parking.

And this CW is located in the heart of what we call MalFunction Junction and one of the busiest roads in the Columbia area especially during rush hour when USC (Gamecocks) is in session.

Can't really speak for the lack of knowledge about what exit to take.
