My wife had both of her knees replaced at the same time. That was 17 years ago. Fifteen years after she had this done one of the replacement knees wore out and she had to have it replaced again. Now that is three knee replacements she has had. A couple of months ago her doctor said the other first replacement has to be replaced again. That will bring her up to four new knees.

Last week I went to the same doctor because both my knees were hurting me big time. He said that my left knee is bone on bone and needs to be replaced now. So that will be done on June 12 this year. Then he said I could get about one more year out of my right knee with a cortisone injection. So after I have my left knee replaced and I can get around again then my wife will have her fourth knee replacement. I asked the doctor to do her knee first but he said no. My knee was in worse condition.

I guess we will be the six million dollar couple.

Good luck. My wife has had both of hers replaced too. Maybe you folks can get a frequent customer discount?

Tell the Dr to put a zipper on her knee.
I have had both of mine done about 15 months apart, the first one will be 2 years old in July and the 2nd a year in October.

had my right one done and need the other one done. I am putting it off as long as possible. Good luck with your first, at least you know exactly what's going to happen.

Liz will need one eventually.

One of the guys I work with had the same problem you do: no cartilage left, bone-on-bone...the doctor injected some sort of polymer, and 2 years later he's fine. Have you looked into that?

The VA injects my knees annually with Syn-Visc. Been working fine for about 5 years now.
Might be worth checking out.

Is this the same or similar to chicken fat? I had both injected with chicken fat and it helps but not very long - about 6 months and they begin to fade back as they were. And they are very expensive.

I was born in Great Falls, Mt. My parents moved when I was 5. I found them when I was 10 - they were in California.

Hadn't heard of this before so I Goggled it......
Sounds like something similar to 'chicken fat'.
From MFG. website: Before trying Synvisc-One or SYNVISC, tell your doctor if you are allergic to products from birds — such as feathers, eggs or poultry
