The past two weeks we were in the woods camping. The pollen was horrendous and I am normally not affected by it. But because it was so rampant this year plus there has been no rain this year. I went to my trusty medicine cabinet and lo and behold all the meds that we normally carry were all out of date. So it became necessary to drive in to the nearest drug store to get some relief. I guess I need to come up with a chart with maladies and the otc drug to counter it. I was wondering what other rv'ers carry in their medicine cabinets??

We don't leave any meds OTC or otherwise in the trailer. The heat would ruin them before they could expire. We also buy small bottles as the big ones just never seem to get used up before they expire.

True about the heat ruining the OTC meds far before an expiration date. If you have not left them in the unit year round in heat, pills are often still good past expiration. I have asked this of pharmacists and doctors. The longer they are expired, the more they are just going to lose efficacy. A few months past usually won't affect a thing. Now that is just for pills, not liquids. When you have this issue in the future, it would save you dollars to call up a local pharmacist and tell them what you have, how long it has been expired, and ask if it is likely still good. That way if it is you save time driving to a pharmacy and buying more.

An old hillbilly remedy for seasonal allergies is to eat some LOCAL honey everyday. My grandpa used to eat a tablespoon full of honey each morning with breakfast. So where ever you happen to be, get a little jar of LOCAL honey - it'll help combat your allergies.

Not sure the concept of dating drugs is the same for everyone. Most are good long past the stamped day per some professionals.
