Been looking for a toy hauler the last few weeks to buy.
On the way home from work me and my wife stoped off at Camping World of St. Augustine. Had to fill out a paper at the front counter befor we could see salesman and look at the units.

First we were upfront just looking and not buying. He ask how much you want to spend we said once again just looking and want to see the 5th wheel toy haulers. So we jump in the cart and go to a 2012 voltage 3005

He opened it up for us to look at and was telling us that this unit had to go it was in a few shows here in FL. And his manager was looking to deal on it. My wife said we are just looking and thanks anyway.

The unit showed signs of use heck the kitchen sink even had 3 cups in it
and some food residue. There was a sticker price in the unit of 74,525.00 We go back to his office ask a few more things and we leave.

Then sat the wife and my daughter go out looking again the daughter wants to stop and see the voltage so we call and see if Joe is going to be there. We stop in and see the unit again and after walking in and out a few times we start asking ok how much.

Well he tells us that he needs to run our credit reports then he needs to know how much we are putting down and then he said at the closing table his manager
would know that we were buying and then he would make the best deal on the unit. I never said a word just said well we have other units to look at. What a joke that was.

We drove up to orange park to a diff Rv dealer and walked into about 9 diff toy haulers spent atlest 3 hr there just looking with the salesman. We went back last sat and signed papers on a 2012 fuzion 310
with the monster package. The deal was very easy and no BS.

As we were closing the deal on the fuzion our buddy from CW calls and wants to know are we still wanting to buy the unit cause there are 11 salesman on the lot and at any time the unit could be sold LOL.

So buy the little stunt that was pulled there at CW they lost the 51,250 that I spent down the road.

I am generally a fan of CW (Chattanooga, Woodstock, and Dothan are my favorites)but I have had nothing but bad experiences in St. Augustine. Their strange method of assigning salepeople (you stand and wait while they find the next person up on the rotation), their seeming concern that you don't really have the resources to buy anything, and their reluctance to let you actually look at their inventory sent me elsewhere to buy RV's twice. Three years ago I went down the road to Ocean Grove and paid cash for a park model for my son after they were downright rude to us. Two years ago they had a the TT I was interested in on their lot but evidently we didn't look like the kind of people who were going to buy anything, so we cooled our heels for awhile before leaving. We bought our TT at CW in Chattanooga. Whole different story. I am in St. Augustine a lot (I am here now), but don't use that store. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to vent! lizzie

That sounds like a big city car dealer tactic, there are other dealers.

It's rare to find a dealer that will have their units open and give you access to look and go thru them on your own without a bunch of BS.... They don't seem to understand that before you buy you may just want to see what a couple of them look like???? They freak out too when I do find a unit we like and are contemplating buying we will sit in it for an hour or two and discuss it between ourselves and go thru it with a fine tooth comb and just chill in it to see how it feels.

Yep that's why we walked out.
To give me a price on the unit he needed to run my credit and how much down to give a price. Been there befor with new truck sales.

The dealer we went to gave us a total price OTD all on paper and we even took 2 days to get back to them. Very easy to deal with. Never once asked how much down or about credit. We also did our finance with them and got a 4.75 rate.

Me and my wife are in the commercial and industrial flooring for over 21 years if I ran my business like that I would be broke in a year.
I meet customers and ask how will you be using this floor and give them my best advice. And if I do not know I will call out local rep to help out. Not how much you got down.

CW did the same with me and like the two of you
I went elsewhere to buy also. I have heard this same story over and over again as I travel across the US from numerous campers I have met. It appears it is not just a particular CW it is a practice at all of them. You'd think they'd figure out it isn't working for them.

And, NO ONE is going to run my credit to look and/or get a price on a anything. Those hits affect your credit. My friend went truck shopping and each store ran his credit. When he finally decided on what truck he wanted they wouldn't give him the loan because of all the hits within a short period of time on his credit. And don't let these guys say they are a 'soft hit' on your credit that is BS.

vX2 for all that.

I have been to the CW in Knoxville and in Chattanooga, bought my TT in Chattanooga, great salesman Eric D. I will say that the store in Knoxville does not conduct business in that fashion. I would never deal with any store that employed those tactics. It's an old story that some in sales NEVER understand......the guy in tattered jeans and a ball cap stops in and gets ignored or given the bum's rush because of the way he is dressed...and guess what just like tileman the guy owns a construction company or some such other working man type business and possesses credit wherewithal to buy any darn thing he pleases and they treat him like the guy who slept in the downtown shelter last night.

It can be a hard balance to strike.....too much sales attention or not enough....we have also seen on here folks complaining that no one paid any attention to them....I've been there too.

It's probably a good idea to follow the "Golden Rule" that's usually a good practice.

They want your credit information up front so they don't waste their "valuable" time on you if you have a poor credit rating.

Yea just to give you a price I do not buy into that way of dealing.

As I said befor the other dealer never even asked or talked about credit information. Or down payment just gave us a OTD price to look over.

And yea I know my credit score was 780.
The salesman to me was just a fast talking guy they had working there.

Ron.
