I want to haul my golf cart in the back of my Chevy 2500hd. Can the tailgate support the ramps while I drive up or should I remove the tailgate and put the ramps directly on the bed? Thanks.

Unless your cables for the tailgate are in poor condition, it should hold fine. I've done it quite often.

They work great - use them to load and haul my 1000 lb Polaris RZR.

I have driven my golf cart in my truck many, many times.. Scares me every time to the point that i take off my gate most sometimes.

My straps are in perfect condition.. And still has me worried

On my old f150 my cables broke and crunched my tailgate on the bumper. Was a bad Day !.. After inspection of the cables i noticed the cables were corroded under the plastic covering. And Dad only sat on the gate when it snapped. 180lbs

Not saying to do it or not to do it.. Just make sure you inspect those cables closely.

If you don't like removing the gate. flashman has got it right !.

I do it all the time with no problems. Most recently 3 days ago.

This is my way of thinking: Will it hold a golf cart? Probably. Maybe. Maybe not. Should I take a chance? Two minutes and it's off, another two minutes it's back on. Now the big question. How valuable is your 4 minutes of time as compared to a bent tailgate? Only you can answer that question.

I used to own a 2004 2500 Chevy HD and there was a recall for the tailgate cables. They would corrode and fail. I tossed the recall in the glove box and forgot about it. About a month later I let the tailgate down and one of the cables snapped.

Not sure what year your truck is but you might want to check with the dealer and see if the cables need replacing.

Very nice!

I have the integrated backup camera on my truck, so removing the tailgate isn't an easy task (there's a disconnect but it's a PITA). I may be ordering a set of those today.

Never a problem loading my CanAm in the truck. When I had the 250 short bed the ATV actually rode on the tailgate. Don't worry about it as long as yopur tailgate and cables are in good shape.
