that 800-lbs represents a small fraction, a tiny, miniscule fraction of the total weight of your DP so don't sweat the weight. we neber leave home or a campground for the next campground without a full or nearly full tank of fresh water (85-gal for us). .

X2 and we carry 90 gal...

If you ever have a breakdown over a holiday weekend, you'll be glad you filled the water tank.

Or sit 11 hours in a trafic jam. Been there. I used to HATE traffic jams. Since having the MH and ensuring I have plenty of water and food, I could care less aside from getting where I want to be at a reasonable time.

+1 on this. Comfortable leather seat, a nice view forward to see how traffic is developing, a cold soda only a few steps away and snacks in the cupboard. Even a quick switch with the DW when everything comes to a stand-still. Beats the heck out of my pickup with the 5er behind it, that's for sure!!!

David0725,
Well Sir, all I can say is, you get caught on a road on the way to your camping spot and a $2.00 item breaks on your coach and you can't move for a few days 'till you get it fixed, you'll wish you had EVERY DROP of water you're allowed to carry. You will not notice any difference in fuel mileage etc. by having a full water tank.

You never know when some form of catastrophe might happen and, you'll need the water for multiple purposes like, DRINKING OR WASHING OR TOILET OPERATION. It's certainly up to you. We've carried full water tanks in all our rigs. And, have needed it on multiple occasions. Good luck and happy Rving.

The county in Florida where I live charges $18.00 a month for reclaimed water piped to your property; They call it reclaimed; what it really is; is sewer water with the lumps removed; smells just like my black tank when I dump.
That I don't put on my yard; my neighbor does and boy does it stink.
They say sign up for this service and you will never need to fertilize your yard' the county uses this to sell the service.

Thank everyone!! I filled it up And ready to go!! And no gray water dumpping for me!

Good decision!

We always travel with full fresh, empty black and grey.

Coach seems to like this configuration.

Just spent 4 days dry camping at a music festival with another couple and we had to travel home with 1/4 fresh, 3/4 grey and 1/2 black.

We all took daily "boat showers" and thus were able to stretch the 110 gallons of fresh water and not fill the grey tank.

BTW, dumping grey water is not legal in Florida.

but you can buy it for $18.00 a month to put on yard yard in florida. it's called reclaimed (not grey water when you have to buy it)

The only time I don't keep my FW tank full is when I store my rig (to keep algae from forming), and when winterizing. Otherwise, I like keeping the FW tank full at all times when camping.

There are just too many times when the water has come into handy for me not to.

Heres one of those that will get the tree huggers realy happy:
I read sometime ago that there was a movement to put diapers on cattle. putting all that waste on the ground; going into our drinking water; nasty; nasty.

FW Tank always full. No dumping of gray water on the ground, HOWEVER, we do have a CG in the area which has gray water dry-wells at each site for dumping.

I fulltime in my RV, with FHU's where I park it down at work.
BUT.....after reading this thread, and several more provided by other posters, I am going to keep my water tank full (100g) full because......
I live in Calif, and an earthquake can happen at any time.

And you just know the water and power and gas piping will be cut off, or shut off. I keep a full tank of fuel also.

No fuel will be available when electric is cut off, so I will keep a full tank of gas. Propane full, with 3 extra 5g bottles.

Plenty of food and drink, too.

Fulltime livin' & lovin' it in '94 Bounder 32h.
