We are thinking about going to Theodore Roosevelt National Park this summer during the first part of August. Looking at the web site the campgrounds are just first come first serve. Does anyone here have any recent experience up there with getting in for a spot? I would hate to drive all the way out there and find it so packed we can't even camp.
Thanks in advance,

I was there last year in July and the place was almost empty when we pulled in at around 10AM. There were more people in the back-in/tent side. By the end of the day, half the pull through sites were still empty.
We loved the park and plan to return some day. We stayed in site 16 or 18 - pretty private and the sites are well spread out.

There is a North and South TR NP. The South get more visitors, but the North is more interesting (?). Lots of spaces in mid-August 2010 at either park.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.
We were there a couple years ago in the summer and and the cg was practically empty. The park is not one of the more popular ones but it was very interesting.

We arrived at the campground late on Saturday Sept. 10 last year and barely found a campsite. Just be sure to arrive early in the day. There are two other campgrounds in town just in case you don't get in.
We really liked it there also. Be sure to go see the Medora Musical.
