How's the 138 from I-5 over to 101 in Oregon? I'll be driving a 40 foot motorhome towing a car.
Thanks

Have not driven the 138, but have done 38 through Drain many times, and it is a very nice drive...good road, not much traffic. If you get a chance, spent a night or two in Elkton, as they have a really nice RV park right in town and right on the river. Also check out Winchester Bay, just south of Reedsport.
Cheers,
Grant

supercub, no problem on that road. It is scenic and follows a river much of the way so it will have curves, dips, a few bridges, two lane, some small communities along the way. Plan on about 50 mph average. Not a bad road at all.

I am an Oregonian who has traveled the road many times and is one of the nicest roads over the coast range mountians in Oregon. Just before you get to Reedsport heading west, keep your eye opened for the Elk viewing area as it is a nice place to stop and take a break.

I wouldn't take 138, drive north a bit more on I-5 and take 38 West. Hwy 38 is one of the best I-5 to Coast highways as far as condition of the pavement, width and lack of tight corners. Hwy 138 is mostly a North bound road anyway.

It's a fine road. We have been over it many times in our 40' motorhome pulling a trailer that put us at 64 1/2ft. On;y one bridge that makes me pucker if we meet a larger rig on it.

We drove it before with our rig at 65'. No problem. As Y-Guy said above, I would go north a bit and take 38 across all the way. Much easier and better road. Either way will get you there. Enjoy the trip....Dennis

Good scenic road. We've used it about 10 times over the years.
As mentioned, very little traffic.
