Congratulations LuAnne. I have been setting up a motor home for years and still learning. You mentioned there was a campground near by. I would suggest you call them and ask if they have a name of a reputable mobile service man they would recommend. This person would normally not be a mechanic, but would be familiar with all of the systems in your new house. It would be good to check all of those systems before you leave. The service man would be able to show you how everything works for a nominal fee. If you were in my area, I would do it for free.
Another suggestion would be to go to the FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) website and find the president of the local chapter in your area. Call that person and see if they can provide you with a mentor.

If you have three weeks to figure it out then stop and get good Sam roadside assist cause you REALLY don't want to sleep on the side of an interstate.

Thank you all for your responses! Now, you will see my posts and questions as I go along. My new home is at the mechanic's getting new "shoes" (tires)and having everything checked over and repaired as necessary for safe traveling and living. I found a very nice gentleman locally that is going to tutor me on setting up/traveling/etc. so when I hit the road I will at least know the basics! I WILL join Good Sam and have the roadside assistance as you have all recommended. And, you never know....at some point, we might meet up and you will remember the woman that USED to be a new RV'r!!!

And I looked at a 1999 Bounder! Decided on the Flair, less miles and better condition overall...hope I made a good decision, but for the first-time purchase I think I should do well! Congratulations also and good luck.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your "new" RV. On posting here or on any forum, be as specific in your post title as you can about your RV brand & year as well your problem/question. You can also probably find a forum specific to the make of your coach. You are welcome here of course, but there is a Fleetwood forum at irv2.com.
