Quote: I don't have a truck. Where do you put the portable and gas supply when towing? Depends on the TT. I have seen a number of trailers with Yamaha electric start on a added rear deck. The electric start usually has a remote start option so the genset can be fired up before reaching a rest stop just to cool down the trailer.
Many trailers have genset bays already installed. The dealer then puts the genset of your choice into the bay.
The other thing you might need to decide is whether you want a gas, propane, or multifuel genset.

Some older models only, I don't believe that any of the current models do.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

I seen a couple of the new trailers at the RV show last month that were generator ready and are also listed as an option on the brochure.

Just saw your other post on looking for trailers to tow with either a Flex or an Exploder.. Any trailer that even has enough space to mount a generator will be too big for either of those vehicles IMO..
Sticking with trailers in the #3500 GVWR range will limit you even more.
How you would transport a small portable gen and gas can is going to get interesting.. Putting the small gen inside the trailer or the vehicle would probably be okay without too much 'gas' smell, but the extra gas can would stink up the place IMO.. I see a lot of those red gas cans strapped to the roof rack of some SUV's..
Hope you are able to find a solution that will work for you!

I have seen some Casita's with Honda 2000's mounted on the hitch area in front, or under the propane tanks. But will add to the hitch weight and your TV is not that large to begin with.

It cost more to add a Genny that it does to buy 2 of the honda's. When I was shopping ( for a 5ver ), I was looking at $4,000-$5,000 installed. When I decided to go with a TT so I didnt have to upgrade to a 3/4 ton truck, I couldnt find any tt in this area, that was genny ready.

We camp a lot at places that do not have electricity. Forest Service , BLM campgrounds, National Parks, and our favorite , with friends alongside a stream or lake on govmint land.
We do not use a generator, nor do our friends.
We have figured out how to work within a 12 volt world.
Two big batteries on the trailer, 2 regular batteries on our diesel pickups.
We drive our pickup every couple of days anyway so we use HEAVY DUTY jumper cables to hook the pickup to the trailer batteries. We never have to run the truck while hooked up to recharge the trailer batteries. We have camped for 10 days in a row with this setup and no drained battery issue.
For the limited 115 volt that we need we have the portable 400 watt inverter that we hook directly to the truck batteries. We only hook the inverter up while it is in actual use such as recharging a laptop, electric razor, and so forth.
Go quiet.

You can do that in Organ but try that here in the deep south where the temperatures hoover around the triple digit mark for weeks on end and the next time you'd have a generator that'll run your A/C unit I can guaaaa-roooon-tee.

Get the TT that fits your needs and budget. Then get a generator to compliment the unit.My experiance with built ins has not been favorable for many reasons some the gen, some the operators. Get a Honda or Yamaha and you will not regret it.Plus it will be a lot less expensive.
