I can get the Exide MC-31 AGM200 Mega Cycle Group 31 100 AH battery for $169 and that includes core and tax.

That's a lot of money.

AH are king.

Here are the reasons I see for going with AGM;
Mount on their sides,
mount on ends,
mount in unvented compartment,
inaccessible for maintenance,
high charge rate.

If none of those advantages apply to you then AGM would be a waste of money in my opinion.

I have an AGM in a motorcycle because checking water would require removal of the fuel tank each time.

I have two 12v Deka GELs in my pup because they are in an unvented compartment and they are free to me.

My big trailer and all other vehicles have flooded batteries.

If it was me, I would go to Sam's Club or Costco and get two 6v golf car batteries for 220 ah and $150 total.

Westend,

That is a thought, as the AGMs do allow a bit more flexability in mounting, perhaps, I could figure a way to add a third if I found the two to not be enuff. I have to give that some thought. Adding a third would certainly take up some of my (vry minnimal) storage space.

By fitting a couple of the Rolls AGM model 6V S6-275AGM batteries (10.31" X 7.13" X 10.76") in series into your storage area you get 250 amp hours. Look at the weight of these relatively small physical sized AGM batteries - 76 lbs. each - that's where those amp hours are coming from!!

(See the Rolls link in my post above.)

"That's a lot of money"

Absolutely...that is why I am so appreciative of all the input so I can make a cost effective decision.

Although in AGM land, $169 for a 2 year warranty Group 31 Battery with 100AH and 200 minutes of RC is a very good deal...although as you say...sitll lots of money.

AGM Much higher cost per amp hour. Much heavier per amp hour. No corrosion, no watering.

FLOODED: Inverse everything above.

No problem

It doesn't hurt me to go over the more techy threads again myself
