Great trip report Dave. The views you guys are sharing with us are majestic. Sorry about the foot. I suppose the bright side of that is it forced you to sit back, have a beer, and enjoy the solitude and catch up on some relaxation.
Get well soon and thanks again for the fun trip report.

Jumpin Jehosaphat, What a great way to come limping in the door and see great responses.
Thanks rv2go.
And thank you too Yaj.
Say Bob, It's funny isn't it, I always look forward to hearing from you too. Hope you're well in Oakland. Kids in spirit indeed, I just can't kick the can right now.
Grant, of course, meet in person would be my vote. I hope you'll let us know and we can let those doggies run somewhere. Thanks so much Grant, 2013 is just around the corner.
Hi Deetour! Well I have to agree with the breathtaking part, but respectfully disagree on the photography. I get lucky now and again, but I'm no standard. Have a good good day.
Hey there SALTYDOG Cliff, I have no doubt you could explain it as it suits you, and you'd enjoy it just the same. Thanks Cliff...
Ah Jeff, Listen, for that "got to go feeling" all day...I use Depends. You funny guy.
Hello 5percent, Thank you for the support, it's always nice to hear from you and I hope you're well.
Mello Mike, It is your kind of country I know it. Nothing was close to the Burr, the first not too far from the VoTG. Talk with you later Mike...
SeƱior Tiger, Sorry for the June Gloom in May, or May Gray as you call it. I'm glad you liked the pics, and the crutches. I can upgrade the hiking stick for you if you like, digitally speaking. Thanks Tiger, see you around.
Dear Skip, I'm surely glad to see, that if you and I shake the tree, so one day later in time, we can afford to sit and rhyme. I sure as heck hope your plans work for you and yours Skip. I'll have to check out the timing of that Montana Rally as well. Our summer schedule may be down the tubes because of life, but what if?! Thank you Skip!!
Thierry, Thierry, Thierry...I love it. Do you really mean that about the "ankle which swells" or are you pulling my good leg? And yes, at times I do think I'm a star and my ego swells like that ankle. About then Mrs. Whazoo will yell from somewhere in the house "Whazoo, time for you to go shovel dog poop!" And I know then that I'm only a lowly Whazoo. Fantastic reply Thierry, thanks.
Thank you too Charlie And Em, have a good one.
Mr. jmtandem, I guess I'm now programmed to do it again, but I'd never say well done. Thank you for saying it and yes, it is easy to love AND miss Lake Powell.
Hi Lots of Stuff, How are you? I have to say how lucky you are and how much I would give to have seen those canyons before the lake. It's a mixed bag isn't it? Love the Lake and love the canyons. And to have a couple months on the Lake, fabulous. I bet you know it well. Have a great weekend Sir...
smh1040us, Howdy there Mark! I'm not sure about how lucky you and rvnet are, I'm thinking I've gotten long in the tooth here. But you know I appreciate the sentiment. And I hope you have your cabin for a long time so we can make it back up there for some bike rides. Thanks Mark.
sdianel, Hi Lonny & Diane, a real big thank you for the real nice response. I'm glad you took the time to reply, you made my day.
Hey Disco! Thanks a bunch, hope you're havin fun in the woods. I miss them a lot, except the chiggers.
Ah heck big whitey, it wasn't that great. Got any more pics for us yourself?? As for the elaboration it goes like this...I was climbing the Widow Maker Hill on my daughter's Honda 150 dirt bike when this big ol unmovable object, embedded boulder, collided with a movable object, my foot. Funny thing was, I'd already made it up once, but once wasn't enough, and there you have it. Have a good weekend BW, be seeing you...
Well Silversand, I was hoping you were around, I'd sure miss you if you weren't. "Photontastic", that's good Silver. But I have to say that star photo wasn't so great. By the last night of the trip, when we could actually see stars, I had taken so many pics I was photoed out and didn't really take time or care. However, if the temps don't rise too much we may yet salvage the original trip, I'll keep you up to date. The best to you and Dunes.
Hey Tim, iwon415, You are so right, I didn't bounce but more of a splat. I used to roll when I fell, those days are gone. Thanks for the compliment, I know you'd love those canyons too.
Brad, was that a test? Pass or fail? I failed didn't I? I hate it when that happens.
Hah fuelhauler, Yes, those were my golden toes to go with my golden...underwear. It's a matched set. Either that or I better loosen my pants too. Thanks a lot for your time, it's nice to see you around.
Ok Dave crosscheck, you weren't supposed to see that winch cable. I thought I photoshopped that out...along with the winch. (Wink) Parking break? Rock chocks? Well I guess we were pretty close to the edge weren't we. And yes Dave, I added a map to my will for ya. I guess I can't go hiking along a cliff with you now can I? See ya Dave...
Mr. Clarryhill, I sure look for you too now Sir, as an old friend. Those colors were some of the best I've seen, yet I have to say how much I love your mountains too. Maybe we should start a switch-off kind of thing. You can stay in my camper at a location of your choice and I'll take a turn in yours. I would get too used to your roomy camper though, and might not give it back. Thanks again Clarryhill, I hope to see you next time.
Oh yeah Bryan, Now look, don't compare my Brokefoot Mtn to your Death Valley, I fall incredibly short in comparison. And maybe I should call you Mr. OnStar as indeed, I need an oil change. Good eyes Bryan, thought I snuck Mr. Goodwhaz by you. Also, I've only taken one day off the ladder, the day after the break for xrays, besides the few days for the trip. In 3 weeks I'm already on my second boot. Those boots don't hold up well to extension ladders, not to mention our rock landscaping here in Phoenix. So no, I barely had time to "push the button" hah. Thanks just a whole lot Bryan, may our paths cross someday.
TCINTN, Howdy Ed! "oohs" and "yows" from all you showed my trip to? I told you Ed, stop showing your cat my pictures. As for the Whazoo Monthly, I do have one, Mrs. Whazoo calls it a periodical. (Was that good? I was hoping that was good.) Ed, you are one classy guy and it's my pleasure to know you as you travel and help others so much while staying in your camper. Thanks Ed, and back at ya...
Hi Sue Bee, I hear what you're sayin, about getting out more. But then I'd post more and be banished from rvnet. Which would probably be a good thing for rvnet. Thanks Sue, for such a nice comment.
Mr. RRUGG, You must be thinking of my tendency to get hoof-in-mouth. Sadly this time it wasn't or I would have already heeled. (?) Funny Mr. RRUGG, I like it. Thank you.
Say now Felix, We are close, in spirit and friendship. Too bad there's just a little water between us yes? Hello to your family for us Felix, we'll talk again soon.
Hey JacintoKid, Hey, I was checking out your rig and trailer on another post, very very nice!
If I've seen it before I forget, but am impressed all over again. Thanks for your time, I appreciate it.
AKDH, Haven't crossed the river yet as I'm always alone, but I've done most of the road coming from the other direction at Sunset Pass. I'll try it some fall when the water level is down.
Hi Mr. Clattertruck, It's always an honor to get a reply from you. Champ? No Sir, but I appreciate it.
Hi Ya Cal!! Nope, haven't moved yet, but still hopeful. Had a few set-backs last year so we're hoping for next spring if things work out. So Cal, are you saying that I scan postcards? What a darn good idea, I'll give it a try next time. As far as front lockers, I was just sittin around one day and it came to me, this really great idea I had about a front locker...and I don't mind a bit Cal that you copied me and got one too.
Ok, fess up Dave, it was Cal that got one first, dammit.
A big HAH Mike! I just don't see a Brokecoccyx Mountain on the map anywhere. Good thing, I don't want to go there. Thanks Mike, your replies are a thing of beauty too. lets keep em going.
jimh425, I don't mind, I've broke my back before too, just didn't do a trip report about it.
(yes, I got it Jim)
ticki2, Finally a reply that nails it, yes, I'll get some real Maple Syrup for the next trip. Problem with that is, I don't need pancakes to go with that stuff! Thanks ticki, see ya.
GoinThisAway, Say, half way through a Whazoo trip report should do just fine, it's all the samo. But, you do know I appreciate you taking a break from your break to reply. Have a super end of the week. I'll be catching your part 2 I hope. I seem to be missing some things lately and noticed how late I was to see part one.
Hi Windwalker55, I like hearing from another outdoor guy, thank you Larry.
Jeff Part2, Home from the salt mines are you? Me too. I have to say climbing a 26 foot ladder with a boot on is a pain but doable. I wish I could say it gave me some time to relax but like you Jeff, ain't nobody else to do the work. The only time off was the trip plus a day for xrays and ct scan. No rest for the wicked, See you Jeff, take care.
Well, another well planned trip report that tells me I don't need to go there now. In all those colorful pics and wonderful descriptions, I hope you found the time to let Mrs. Whazoo know that she was the true bright spot in all them there shots!

Morning there Frank, I always knew you were a guy after my own heart, now I know your after Mrs. Whazoo's heart too. Yes, she's the bright spot in my picture of life and I call her Pollyanna. Thanks Frank, have a good summer over there in Vegas.
A good morning to you as well Joerg, I hope you, your family and your camper are all doing well. Thanks for taking the trip with us, the foot will heel eventually. Heel, that was a pun Silver used, I like it. Take care Joerg!
Wonderful about to start on an East bound exploration of some northern states.
Want to see natural canyons No problem Whazoo!
Just go to Google Earth then Fly to Broken Bow Arch UT.
Zoom in and out around the area.
We came in on Hole-in the- Rock Rd. Our first nights camp was under Broken Bow Arch.
We then hiked down to the confluence of Willow Gulch and the Escalante River. Set up our base camp there. We were on a very large sand bar surrounded by giant Cottonwood trees. That's all under water now. But the area is very accessible by boat.
A little way up the Escalante River you will see Explorer Canyon a dead end canyon.
We were the first to map that canyon. Another Explorer Post had discovered and named it, But we were first to map it. Or so we were told. We found a small Anasazi pot that is now on display at the University of Utah in Salt Lake. We were not allowed to remove the artifact but mapped its location.
As you zoom in and out notice the upper Escalante River canyon is still pristine and not at all under water. I understand the Escalante River canyon was the LAST place mapped in the lower 48. When our Explorer Scout Post hiked there in the late 1950's it was still unmapped.
A very beautiful place improved by the lake.(click on the many Google Earth pictures) Remember very few outsiders had any idea of the wonders of the southwest in those days.

I have spent time on a houseboat on Lake Powell; however, I think for me the truck camper program is better. Bring the mountain bikes and do exploring (of course having a broken foot doesn't help with mountain biking). I can't wait until your next trip report!

Not much I can say that has not already been said. Amazing pictures and great commentary!!! Thank you for taking the time to allow us all to enjoy your trip!
