Planning a trip this summer cross country. Estimate 7,000 mile. Our two and a half year old Openrange fifth wheel has 6,000 mile on it. Our tires are goodyear marathon 16" wheels and tires. Should we get new tires before are trip or will these be OK. I don't want a blow out tire. My hubby and I are dissagreeing on this. What would you do?

Hard call...first check the manufacturer date of your tires.
No checks or cracks or bubbles or bulges AND under 5-6 years old...go with them.
In the example above:
DOT U2LL LMLR 5107
51 Manufactured during the 51st week of the year
07 Manufactured during 2007

I would not get new ones. 13k miles isn't that much, and they should be good for more than a few years.

How about a compromise by taking two spares on rims?

MEMA: We are grappling with the same issue. We have about 10,000 miles on our original tires and are about to drive home, Arizona-to-Maine. Although we had them treated last fall, our situation is complicated by the fact that the 5'er has been sitting in the AZ sun for a year. MaineDon

Per the DOT number you showed, they are Goodyear Tires Manufacturered the 51st week of year 2007. I'd say go and have a fun trip!

Age means more than miles. They are most likely 1 year older than your RV.
At 3,1/2 years they should be fine.

I would say diffinately replace the "Marathon" tires. You didn't mention what size your fiver is, but I don't hold Goodyear Marathon tires in very high regard regardless of the size of your trailer. For piece of mind go out and buy the highest load rated steel belted tires you can. You will regret not changing out those Marathon tires when they start flying apart on a hot summer day.
Since you have 16 inch rims, if your axle and rims are rated high. enough you could have complete piece of mind with Michilin XPS ribbed tires. In my estimation these are the very best tires you can put on a fiver.
