I currently have a new Tiffin Allegro RED-38QRA on order and found out that Tiffin cannot install a mud/rock flap on the rear due to the exhaust. I spoke with the manufacturer and was told that the RED's exhaust and muffler creates too much heat and has shown to melt the mud flap when installed. I've checked every other Tiffin and see that a mud flap is on other motorhomes they manufacture. I even mentioned that their design probably need to be altered to allow mud flap installation. Anyone else have this problem???? I still have a month before delivery of the new motorhome.
1. Full length Mudflaps do NOT stop debris from hitting a toad. Thgere are too many gaps and voids from the ground to the bottom of the flap to the voids and gaps above the flap.
2. The best protection for a Toad is the deflectors that mount on the A frame of the tow bar assbly.
3. Don't you think Tiffin would KNOW better why they stopped installing Mudflaps on certain model motorhomes they build????? Just because other models of the Tiffin line have them does not mean they can be installed on other certain models. Tiffin obviously has learned the hard way (cost them a lot of money for damaged flaps) not to install on RED models. Doug

I don't have one of those but I do have two mudflaps installed just behind the rear wheels. I tow a CRV and these mudflaps seeem to stop any rocks or debries from flying up and hitting the Toad. Works for me and I see no need for a full width mud flap. In fact I have heard that the full flaps can drag on the ground on dips in the road and throw up debries and or rocks that would probably not even be disturbed without the full flap. So look into having flaps installed behind the rear wheels as an option.

I've been considering making sure that the dealer installs real good mud flaps behind the dual wheels to see if that works. Thanks for all the input. As a note, most states also require mud flaps for vehicle having dual wheels the last I heard. I've always wondered how motorhomes got away without'em.
